Letterman's first item , "Instead of 'Partly sunny,' have weatherman say 'Partly cloudy'", is actually very much on target - not off the wall as his writers may have thought.

Hip, young TV writers may not know, but what is now called "partly sunny" used to be called "partly cloudy." The change was made at the behest of the tourist "industry" in a minor attempt to increase consumption of their product; the Weather Bureau (now Weather Service), as a government arm, had to bow to Congressional pressure. That was, of course, at a time when when no one, except perhaps M. King Hubbert, was much concerned about oil or fuel consumption.

Didn't Letterman start his career as a weatherman on an Indiana TV station, by the way?

GW on GW always makes me wonder when someone would come up with a valid three-letter acronym Global Warming B**** that can be printed.

By the way, have you seen wonderingman42 on GW (or as he calls it GCC, yet?) He is on YouTube, Break, and reasic sent me the link on Celsias, where I chipped in.

The video has runaway success under the Humor tag at BreakDotCom, and there are already two patches posted that are worth watching for a number of reasons.

Worth tracking as a serious idea, as well as an effective, light-hearted response to JunkScience.
